The gearbox in the drive unit of a wind turbine operates under variable load conditions and, along with bearing nodes, is one of the most heavily loaded components. That's why gearbox vibrodiagnostics is included in the periodic control program and spectral analysis: by analyzing vibration acceleration and spectra, it is possible to identify worn gear teeth, looseness of bearings, imbalance, and signs of lubricant degradation.

In practice, specialists compare spectra with the manufacturer's thresholds for wind energy units (WEUs) and with previous measurements on the same machine. If there are several identical WEUs on a site, it is useful to compare the spectrum of an "healthy" operational installation with a suspicious one - this speeds up the localization of the source.
For asset owners, not only single measurements but also methodology: fixed points for sensor placement, comparable power modes during measurement, and storing reports for insurance and service analyses are important.

The results of vibrodiagnostics directly affect the T&M plan: intervals for oil replacement, bearing checks, calibration of monitoring systems. A combination of periodic visits and remote SCADA monitoring reduces the risk of sudden failures.
OOO "EcoTEK" performs industrial equipment and WEU vibrodiagnostics, as well as comprehensive technical maintenance of wind turbines. We recommend incorporating gearbox vibrocontrol into the annual park plan and coordinating thresholds with equipment manufacturers.
