Scheduled maintenance of wind farms according to manufacturer requirements involves performing a certain list of works with a set frequency to maintain accident-free operation of the WTG. For each type of equipment, its own list of scheduled works is established.

All service work on wind turbines can be divided into 4 types: visual inspection, electrical service, mechanical service, and lubrication.
Visual inspection may seem like a useless and simple stage of WTG maintenance. However, professionals know that missing small irregularities can lead to serious equipment breakdown.

Includes diagnostics of generator bearings, checking generator windings and varnish coating, controlling bolt tightening at flange joints, checking and adjusting brake and hydraulic systems.

Most wind turbine manufacturers distinguish four types of technical maintenance depending on the operation time of the WEU: primary (performed approximately after 500-1000 hours of work), semi-annual maintenance, annual technical maintenance (includes semi-annual), and maintenance every 4-5 years (the most extensive in terms of volume of works).
Modern wind turbines can be regulated both individually and as part of a wind park in its entirety. However, adjusting the power output of a wind park sometimes requires specialized software from the WTU manufacturer.
The scope of work performed depends on the type of technical maintenance and is strictly regulated by the equipment manufacturer. In most cases, technical maintenance includes: monitoring the condition of the tower, blades, nacelle, tightening threaded connections, replacing filters, checking technical fluids and lubricants, inspecting batteries, controlling high-voltage and low-voltage equipment, inspecting the generator, hydraulic systems, lightning protection, cooling systems, yaw control.
Time spent on technical maintenance of WEUs depends on the type of service and identified issues. On average, about 50-60 hours are spent annually on routine maintenance.
During the technical maintenance of WEU, the WEU is stopped, and for performing works with high-voltage equipment, the wind installation is disconnected from the electrical network.
Wind energy installations need to be stopped for technical maintenance, component repair or in case of malfunction. Another reason for stopping a wind energy unit is too weak or too strong wind. A third cause may be the requirement of an electric grid operator.
